Richard lives in Uffculme with his wife and three children. He grew up just over the border in Somerset, and was elected to represent Tiverton & Honiton at the by-election last summer.
Richard previously served in the army for a decade, obtaining the rank of Major. He received three campaign medals for service in Iraq and the Balkans, and served as a UN peacekeeper in Kosovo.
Before being elected, Richard worked for a leading university. He volunteers his time with local scout groups in Willand and Cullompton and has previously raised thousands of pounds for charities - including running the London Marathon for the Royal British Legion.
As your local MP, Richard's top priorities are: urgent action to ease the cost of living squeeze; cutting waiting times for local healthcare services and ambulances; and getting a fair deal for Devon's farmers.
"I love Devon and I’m proud to represent our communities in Parliament. Our towns and villages are truly special places, and I endevour to be a strong independent-minded MP who will put local people first. We deserve an MP fighting for our area and that's what I'll always do." - Richard Foord
Richard is also the Liberal Democrats' Spokesperson for Defence, and has been calling for more action to support the Ukranian people in the wake of Putin's illegal invasion.
